Workforce development is a priority in the Innovation Valley.  There are multiple quality and flexible training programs and post-secondary institutions to address the training needs of businesses in the region.

Roane State Community College boasts 9 campuses in the region with the largest campus being located in Oak Ridge.  The core programs are business management, health science and office administration.

Roane State's Corporate Training Center offers training to area businesses in the following areas:

  • Human Resources
  • Management Training
  • Customized Training

A 5 campus system, Pellissippi State Technical Community College offers career/technical associate's degrees and institutional certificates with it's largest campus only 10 minutes from Oak Ridge.  The core programs are business technology, computer technology and engineering.   

With area businesses in mind, Pellissippi's Business and Community Services provide certification courses as well as customized training in the following areas:

With 27 locations, the Tennessee Technology Centers (TTC) play a key roll in workforce development across the state.  TTCs offer certificate and diploma programs in more than 50 distinct occupational fields as well as customized training for business and industry including:

  • Drafting & Cad
  • Industrial Electricity/Electronics
  • Industrial Maintenance Technology

Tennessee has a network of career centers across the state where people and jobs connect. The Tennessee Career Center in Anderson County will be happy to assist you in your search for qualified employees as well as assist in training your current employees.  Each center provides:

  • Computerized labor market information
  • Workshops for job seekers and current employees
  • Online talent bank, job placement, recruitment and training referrals
  • Applicants with Career Readiness Certificates (CRC) through WorkKeys assessments
  • On the job training

The University of Tennessee, the state's flagship research-intensive university, is among the nation's top public universities.  Its programs in Business, Law, Logistics Engineering, Education, Health and Human Science all rank among the nation's very best.

UT Center for Industrial Services (CIS) is an industrial extension program of UT's Institute for Public Service.  CIS helps Tennessee's manufacturers become more productive, more profitable and more competitive through various programs.  CIS will deliver customized training including but not limited to the following:

  • Health & Safety
  • Improving Productivity (including Lean & Six Sigma)
  • Quality Management
  • Working with Government

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) offers professional training and continuing education opportunities in Homeland Security, Health & Safety, National Security & Emergency Management and Health Physics.
